I bet you didn't realize side sleeping is one of the healthiest — and most common — sleep positions. If you are a side sleeper, there are some specific things you should be looking for in a new mattress. You want to find a bed with a plush surface that conforms to your shoulders and hips, and prevents and pressure buildup. But, you also want a bed with a sturdy support core made from springs or latex. This will help promote spinal alignment and prevent you from sinking too far into the surface.

And don't forget about your pillow! Having a quality pillow that fills the space between your head and shoulders is essential for getting a good night of sleep.

So in this video, join sleep expert, Dr. Michael Breus and Director of Product Testing, David Rubin, as they describe their top three mattresses for side sleepers.

  1. Thank you very much for your videos. I am 25 and a year ago one day, an incident happened that made me anxious and for the first time in my life I could not closed my eye until the morning. It happened also the next night and on the third day I managed to sleep. Since then every time I have something important to do the next morning, I get anxious that I won’t be able to sleep and have no energy the next day. And almost always because I’m thinking about it, I don’t sleep or it takes me too long. The mind goes into thought overthinking and I can’t stop it. What do you suggest?
